Q1. Do you offer free site visits?

Yes, we are happy to come and visit you at your building site and discuss your building requirements.

Q2. Will I need a building consent?

In the vast majority of cases building consent is required for an Ideal building. Under the NZ Building code any building greater than 10 square metres requires a building consent, there are occasional exceptions to this rule for example a single carport less than 20 square metres does not require a building consent, also repairing your damaged garage after an accident or storm does not, providing you are replacing like materials with like.

Q3. Will Ideal Buildings handle the building consent for me?

Yes, it is our preference to handle everything from consent to completion, we take the potential stress out of dealing with the council regulations.

Q4. If I want a kitset, how easy is it to erect the building myself?

Ideal will provide you with some kitset instructions with your new building. The build time depends on a number of factors: the weather, your competence and the assistance that you have. It is advisable that you have some building experience and the correct tools

Q5. What sizes of buildings do you offer

Our standard range starts at 3m x 3m, and goes to 18m x 9m, we offer 2.1m –> 3m stud heights.

Q6. What sort of floor do I need for the building?

Depending on your site and the use of the building, you may be able to choose from a timber or concrete floor, your Ideal distributor will be able to advise you on the options after a site visit to see the building area.

Q7. Can you handle everything for us?

Yes, it is our preference to handle everything from consent to completion. Our buildings are well understood by the New Zealand local councils, and with our trusted network of subcontractos we aim to make the build process as stress free for you as possible

Q8. Can plumbing, drainage and electrics be installed?

Yes, we can either connect your new Ideal building to any existing building you have on your property or organise new connections.

Q9. How flexible are the floor plans?

Subject to wall bracing requirements you are able to place windows and doors where you like, each Ideal building is manufactured to your unique requirements.

Q10. What about finance?

Through our supply partner Mike Pero Mortgages, we are able to offer various finance options to suit your budget.

Q11. Can you build to a specific size?

We can customise a plan to suit you and can arrange doors and windows to suit your needs.

Q12. What about onsite health and safety?

We take on site health and safety very seriously, not only for our staff but also for our customers.

Q13. What about building near the sea?

Building in the coastal zone may affect the warranty on your roofing and cladding, we can advise on the best product for your location

Q14. What sort of garage doors do you offer ?

At Ideal, we only offer quality sectional and rolla doors made by Garador, a well know New Zealand brand
